Our apologies …

Monday, December 7th, 2009

All right, people. Relax. Yes, we ran a review of the new end-of-the-world drama “The Road” in the Dec. 1 issue of Folio Weekly, and No, it hasn’t opened in Jacksonville yet, but please believe us when we say this was not an act of outright deception. We want to see it as much as you do. But, when the the review was edited for publication, it was promoted as opening wide on Nov. 25. Well, it has only opened in select markets, and we only have so much influence in Hollywood. We will be sure to let you know when it does open in Northeast Florida theaters, and when it does, we’ll re-post the review here at Flog. Till then, you’ll have to get your apocalypse fix elsewhere.

What’s Five Bucks … really?

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

Check out this week’s Folio Weekly (the print version, anyway), and you’ll get a little bit of misinformation regarding our MartiniFest. The admission price was incorrectly listed. It’s $25 in advance, $30 at the door. Sorry, peeps, for the error.  Here’s the rest of the info, which is also, for the most part, correct: More than 50 varieties are available for sampling at Folio Weekly’s Sixth Annual Martini Fest this Friday, Nov. 13 from 7-10 p.m. at Touchdown Club West, located in Jacksonville Municipal Stadium, 1 Stadium Place, Jacksonville. Free munchies from local restaurants will be available until 8 p.m. A VIP Party begins at 6 p.m., and the official after-party is held at The Twisted Martini in The Jacksonville Landing, 2 Independent Drive. Jacksonville. VIP tickets are $30, $35 at the door. 260-9770 ext. 110.

Sugar Red Where?

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

You know what really sucks? When you’re a new band traveling around the country trying to make a name for yourself and some local rag screws up the info about your upcoming show. In this week’s Folio Weekly, we incorrectly posted the location of the upcoming Sugar Red Drive show. They play tomorrow night, Wednesday, Sept. 16 at The Pit at Brewster’s, 14003 Beach Blvd., Jacksonville. 223-9850. The New York rock outfit joins Papercut Massacre, part of the Operation: Rock Tour, which is heavily discounted for those who serve in the military.
